Honestware ยท RxCellent

Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 21, 2026

The short version

This policy explains what information RxCellent (part of the Honestware suite of apps) handles, why, and what stays entirely under your control. It applies to the RxCellent Android app available on Google Play.

Information we do not collect

RxCellent has no backend server and no user accounts. We do not collect, receive, or have any way to view your medication information, usage patterns, or personal details. There is no advertising SDK, no analytics SDK, and no third-party tracking embedded in the app.

Information stored on your device

To do its job, RxCellent stores the following information locally, in the app's private storage on your phone:

None of this leaves your device unless you explicitly export it (see Backup & Export below). We designed it this way because medication information is sensitive, and the simplest way to protect it is to never have it pass through us in the first place.

Camera and photos

RxCellent's camera permission is optional and only requested when you first use a feature that needs it. It covers two distinct uses, which behave differently:

Notifications and alarms

RxCellent asks for notification permission, exact-alarm scheduling permission, and (optionally) an exemption from battery optimization. These exist solely so your dose reminders fire reliably and on time. None of them involve sending or receiving data, and none of them are tied to any account or identifier.

Backup and export

RxCellent lets you export your data to a file, manually or on a schedule you set yourself, so you don't lose your history if you switch phones or reinstall the app. You choose where that file is saved. RxCellent does not upload it to any server; if you later move that file to cloud storage, email it to yourself, or sync it another way, that's a choice you make outside the app, governed by whatever service you use for that.

Debug log

RxCellent can keep a local debug log on your device to help troubleshoot problems if something goes wrong. A few things worth knowing about it:

Third-party services

RxCellent includes an optional link to Buy Me a Coffee, for anyone who wants to leave a tip. Tapping it opens their website in your browser; RxCellent doesn't send them any of your data, and using RxCellent never requires visiting that link. Once you're there, Buy Me a Coffee's own privacy policy applies to whatever you do on their site.

Google Play itself may collect standard distribution information (such as install and crash data) under Google's own privacy policy, separate from anything RxCellent does.

Data sharing and sale

We don't sell, rent, or share your data with anyone, whether that's advertisers, data brokers, or otherwise. We're not able to, since your data isn't something we ever have.

Data retention and deletion

Your data stays on your device for as long as you keep the app installed. Clearing the app's storage or uninstalling RxCellent removes it. Any backup files you've created live wherever you saved them, independent of the app, and you can delete those the same way you'd delete any other file.

Children's privacy

RxCellent is not directed at children and is not intended for use by children under 13. Since the app collects no information from any user, none is knowingly collected from children either.

Security

Because your data never leaves your device, the main thing protecting it is your device's own security: screen lock, encryption, and who has physical access to your phone. We'd recommend keeping a device lock screen enabled if you're storing medication information you'd consider sensitive.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page and note it in the app's About screen. Continuing to use RxCellent after a change means you accept the updated policy.
